Greater Baldwin-Whitehall Athletic Association (GBWAA) has a rich history of baseball and softball programs within the community. The South Whitehall Athletic Association was created in 1952 comprised of 4 little league teams. The program quickly grew adding older divisions and the girls “ponytail” league in 1954. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the first Pony Baseball game played in Whitehall Borough took place at Snyder Field in 1953 against Castle Shannon.

GBWAA as it exists today, was created by the athletic associations of South Whitehall, South Baldwin, North Baldwin & Baldwin Whitehall Fast Pitch. We strive to create quality programs for over 1100 students ages 5-18 years old that learn and play on our baseball/ softball teams throughout the year. Our goal is to not only teach baseball and softball, but to have fun and help kids develop a love for the game. Fields utilized for games & practices within Whitehall Borough include Snyder, Frank, Overlook & Union.

Baseball & Softball programs are offered for Spring, Summer & Fall; Winter clinics are available at various locations.

The Baldwin Hockey Club is a non-profit organization that sponsors ice hockey as a club sport for residents of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. Membership is open to any 6th through 12th grader who has an interest in competitive ice hockey.  We also have a new developmental program for younger players.

Our Varsity, Junior Varsity (JV), and Freshman teams compete in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL), are sanctioned by USA Hockey, and operate under the guidelines set forth by those organizations. The hockey season begins in mid-October and continues through March.

Past accomplishments have included a Pennsylvania State Championship, "The Pittsburgh Cup," and an undefeated season.  With the dedication of the coaching staff, the players, the parents, and the leadership of the Club's Board Members, the Club is looking to continue its tradition of excellence and commitment to sportsmanship and athletic and personal development.

The "BWAA" as it is known in the community is dedicated to providing children an opportunity to play ball (baseball or softball) in an environment that is structured, supervised and most of all enjoyable to children and their families.
We are proud to be a part of two communities (Baldwin and Whitehall) for over thirty years. The BWAA is open to children from all communities and is dedicated to the principle that no child will be denied the opportunity to play ball.

The BWAA has structured leagues in the following age groups for girls and boys:

15 and over

These age groups are guides and are not designed to restrict a child. Should you have a question concerning your child the BWAA can help you decide. The overriding principle of where a child can play is safety for the child and other children. The BWAA is a parent run organization.

We rely on the volunteer-ism of the parents and guardians of our children to see that we provide the best chances for our children to play. The BWAA believes in playing ball in an environment that shows a high level of sportsmanship.

We are proud to say that we are the first organization in the area that is developing a code of conduct for parents, managers, coaches and umpires. This code of conduct will ensure that children play in an atmosphere that is conducive to the highest level of sportsmanship with good clean competition.
